Katie in NJ/PA

So, technology and I don't get along, and I don't own a scanner. I do, however, own a camera phone and know how to text. This is the best pic I could manage of my sketch. Anyone have any ideas how to do the hand better? Trekkies will know how it's supposed to look... :)

Your Santa Spock looks mad. I know he should have the slanty eyebrows, but not sure how you would piece it. Good luck.

I think you are on the right track with your hand. Maybe the fingers need to be a bit less slanty (and that might be easier to piece, too).

I saw a picture of a quilt with hands on it in this post
, maybe looking at that will help you...you could do the hand like this, with more space between the two fingers?

wonder if you'd be happier if the finger lengths were slightly different on the hand? Could it be accomplished by sewing a piece of background at an angle after reaching the point in your sketch?

I think the hand is great. maybe make the pinkie shorter and the pointer finger a little bit less as well. and put in a wrist. I'm glad you've got the eyebrows - Spock needs those. this quilt is going to be such a hoot.

I plan on embroidering the eyebrows, for two reasons- first, I don't fel like actually piecing that, and second, I think they should be fuzzy. Don't you?

The fingers are supposed to be slanty like that (the whole Live Long and Prosper thing), but thanks for the ideas on shortening the pinky and pointer.

Tonya, how do I put in a wrist??

Hi Katie

Can you leave another comment on my last post (no time to do a new one right now) Then I will get sent an email to say you have made a comment and from that email I should be able to reply to you direct.

LOVE the Spock idea. When I was 12 we had a Star Trek club, we made badges - very crude ones (this was nearly 40 years ago, I'm talking the original Star Trek!! :-)
