Hi from Diane

While scrounging through my solids for red and green scraps, I unearthed these blocks that I made for a quilt last year. Is it still politically incorrect to combine the letters “H” and “O”? If not, I might use them in a project along with trees and houses.

Apparently, I’m quite susceptible to the powers of suggestion, because I can’t get Tonya’s image of a BUG out of my head! It’s an idea I never would have thought of on my own. Here’s a rough sketch (sorry, I can’t draw).

I love the snappiness of those HO-HOs...I think that they look really neat graphically on top of each other in the first picture. Cool.

I love your sketch - marvelous. don't have to be able to draw in this class! I love the HOHOHOs. And I feel like an idiot because I didn't think of them when I was trying to come up with easy blocks for beginners. Hs and Os are incredibly easy!!! Thank you for the idea.

Heidi, the term "ho" is slang for whore (loose, sleazy woman or prostitute). that's why you'd always want to use several HOs all together, never just HO alone.

Well, thanks Tonya for explaining the reason to not use "ho" on its own. I would never have made the connection! Otherwise can I say Bah Hum Bug to polital correctness?
