Fitzy - I think I've GOT IT!

I've gotten my inspiration, and have begun my project for this Winter Class! I'm so exicted! Excited AND relieved that I can actually piect these letters. They're definately not exactly as cool as Tonya's, I'm SO anal, I am struggling to achieve her "sass". Thank goodness there is no Quilt Police lurking here.

So...my idea is...to make a Striped Sign pole with all the city signs on it that will point the direction of the city and say 250 miles, etc. So the first one is Noel, MO (Missouri) and the next is Christmas, MI(Michigan). I am naming holiday cities in states either my dh or I have lived in. The quilt will be tall and skinny-ish, but perfect for it's hanging place.

I'd love for your input on how to get my letters more sassy!

love your quilt idea.... I wonder if some of the "sassy" you're looking for could be achieved by adding a piece of background fabric at an angle on the top or bottom of the letters before trimming them to size. That way they wouldn't all lined up on an invisible line when you make the word...

I'm OK with the O, R, T and M showing a little 'tude, I just can't seem to get the top strips skinny and the bottom ones fat, lol. (I should have such issues!)

I also see I have too many vertical seams, going to have to work on that!

try switching up your fabrics and the size of the letters. they don't all have to be the same. Yours are beautiful though!

I really, really like your words! Though I'm a bit anal myself, so you might not consider that a compliment. ;-)

ooo I love what everyone has done so far. Now that I have a few weeks to "play" w/o parties to plan for , meetings to run, etc. DD and I need to brainstorm some ideas.

your letters look beautiful. lots of times it takes some practise making the blocks before you can start making them wilder.

recommend: use some wider strips as well as the narrow ones - that will give you more variety.

cut some more strips, these ones on an angle. when you use them you automatically have wonkiness.
